Episode Five – Ivan Doig and Jamie Ford
Ivan Doig was one of the most popular writers from Montana, the author of eleven books, seven of which were novels, including English Creek and Dancing at the Rascal Fair. Three were nonfiction, including the highly acclaimed memoir This House of Sky, which was a finalist for the National Book Award. A former ranch hand, newspaperman, and magazine editor, Doig holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Washington. He passed away in 2015. Work Song is the story of Morrie Morgan, who moves to Butte during a period of labor unrest and takes a job working at the local library.
Jamie Ford is the author of three highly acclaimed novels, including Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a New York Times bestseller that is currently being made into a major motion picture. Jamie grew up in Seattle and moved to Great Falls twenty years ago, where he lives with his wife Leesha and several of their six children.
