Episode Eighteen – Melissa Kwasny and Frank Linderman
For our eighteenth episode, we talk to Montana Poet Laureate Melissa Kwasny about her most recent book, a departure from her usual work called Putting on the Dog. Melissa was commissioned to write this book about the nature of clothes and the materials we use to make our clothing. She did five years of research for Putting on the Dog, traveling to Denmark, Alaska, Mexico and various other places.
The second book, as requested by Melissa, is a narrative about Crow Medicine Woman Pretty Shield, as recorded and written by Frank Linderman, who was a prolific Montana writer who took a special interest in the Native population, even going as far as to help establish the Rocky Boy Reservation.
